Founded in 2010, Inspiratie Inc focuses on anyone who seeks an active place in society: children, youth, adults and older people, with different backgrounds, culture, faith, gender, .... and/or social status.

We connect people, for example, New Dutch Communities with refugee backgrounds get in touch with businesses or artists in order to develop their knowledge base, skills and careers. Together as equal human beings they are developing meaningful contributions to neighborhood development.

With the support of the Gemeente Almere & 'Oranje fonds', the project “Community gardens: Sowing & Cooking together” was born.

Teaching about and implementing the permaculture principles, five community gardens, also called Stadstuinen/City Gardens were created in several strategic locations in Almere.

As community gardens, these places are open to each and everyone who want to enjoy art and nature, share or meet other people and the products that are created in the gardens.

The Gardens contribute to the wider objectives & vision of Almere::

• Growing Green Cities
• Feeding the City (Flevo campus)
• Floriade

7 BuurT-Tuin locations

Each garden has a special name, with the same meaning: welcome in different languages. We started in 2015 en 2016 with the creation of:

• the Community Garden” De Cirkel” now renamed as Marhaba Middenhof community garden:BuurT-Tuin Marhaba Middenhof in Almere Haven
• the Khalili community garden:BuurT-Tuin Khalili in Almere Poort
• the Al Imam community school garden:BuurT-Tuin Al Iman in Almere Stedenwijk
• the Akwaaba community forest garden: now renamed as BuurT-Tuin Acceptus Marathonlaan 11, in Almere Tussen de Vaarten

In 2017 we maintained and expanded the existing gardens and also started with the development of the fifth community garden:

• Karibu community garden:BuurT-Tuin Karibu, Odeonpark 580, in Almere Stad Center

And we worked on two new concepts for the sixth and seventh community garden ventures, which will formally start from the end of 2017:

• Akwaaba Community Garden:BuurT-Tuin Akwaaba, Estafettelaan 17, in Almere Tussen de Vaarten
• Diamondiaal Community Garden:BuurT-Tuin Diamondiaal, de bos-Tuin in Almere Oosterwold

BUURT-TUIN KHALILI

Design for Khalili with multiple layers, many flowering plants, arranged on the course of the sun. The plants are an addition to the plants that are already there and are resistant to wind and drought.

BUURT-TUIN ACCEPTUS

The Akwaaba Community Garden has recently been re-named Acceptus Community Garden. A growing educational and playful place for the surrounding people in the neighbourhood and especially children and families from the refugee centre and the nearby schools Oli fijn and Aventurijn, and Taalcentrum Almere.
